Since
record began in 1851, Hurricane Arthur was the earliest Hurricane which hit
North Carolina in a season. The last record was in 11th July 1901.
The Arthur Hurricane was first that causes the landfall on the U.S mainland
since ISAAC on 28,29th Aug 2012 and become the first category II
hurricane in since IKE 2008.
Arthur
was developed from low pressure over the Southeastern United States and merged
into the Western Atlantic Ocean on 28th June. After organizing
sufficiently, was developed a well defined area of circulation and amid and
become favorable environment, and on 01st July classified as
tropical depression. The system become continues to powerful and then later
that afternoon was declared a tropical storm.
Going unbalanced
to northward, and early of 03rd July the storm become the Hurricane
status. And on evening late of 03rd July the system gained speed as
peak winds of 100 MPH and become the Hurricane category 2 on the
Staffir-Simpson hurricane wind scale. On 03rd July the Arthur made
landfall at 11.15pm. On Shackle folds banks, between Beaufort and Cape Lookout.
And intensity becomes slightly increased with the minimum pressure of 973 mb or
28.73 mercury / inches.
And Then the
storm step ahead to northward, and become weaken as it was passed through cape
cod Nantucket before it transfer in to wave cyclone on 5th July. The
Widespread powers decreased were reported throughout the Coastal eastern and
North Carolina. There were observed that surge flooding up to 4 to 5 feet was
above over the central and northern outer banks and in dare country the portion
of NC highway 12 and U.S. highway were closed. And cape lookout the peek wind
was recorded 101 MPH.
