On
2nd April 2014:
On late Tuesday,
an 8.2 magnitude earthquake was stuck of the coast of North Chile. The
earthquake was creating small land sliding, cutting the power and alarming a
tsunami. There were one women and four men died in the incident. The interior
Minister Rodrigo Penailillo said that two were suffered from heart attack and
three were crushed. He also said that about 300 prisoners were escaped from
north port city of Iquique in the immediate consequences.
At
8.46p.m local time, the quake attacked on Iquique some 60 miles from North.
The
U.S geological survey said that it has depth of 12.5 mils.
The
coastal resident asked by Chile’s National Emergency Office to evacuate fro,
their places.
The Chile’s President, Michelle Bachelet
said on Wednesday that we will know the extent of damages by the passage of
time and inspect the areas in the day light. The country very well faced early
hours.
The
port city Antofagasta’s residents walked calmly to the higher places because
the traffic stuck in the places.
Fabrizio
Guzman the World Vision emergency communications manager said, when the people
heard the tsunami warning, they went to higher grounds because they have
experienced of powerful earthquake in 2010.
.In
affected areas, there have been multiple aftershocks, and communications have
been cut off.
The
people were hoping to go back to home safely and waiting in the dark hills and
not knowing what will come. There were issued several tsunami warnings by The
Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, and by early Wednesday all warnings were
cancelled by them. The Iquique saw the waves of 7 feet and have population of
more than 200,000.
Damages:
In some regions
the landslides damage the roads, in other areas Phone and Power were temporary
suspended. Chile is located on Ring of Fire, an arc of volcanoes, because of
faulty line circling the pacific basic and becomes the frequent earthquakes and
volcanic eruptions. An earthquake of 6.7 magnitudes on 16th March
struck 37 miles west northwest of Iquique. After a week later a 6.1 magnitude
hit the same area. On 27th Feb 2010 an 8.8 magnitude earthquake
struck and causes the death of 500 people.
No
Damages to U.S coastline:
On Tuesday, the U.S National Tsunami Center was
worked to determine the level of danger for Alaska, Washington, Oregon and
California and also Canada’s British Columbia. A Geophysicist of Pacific
Tsunami Warning center Gerard Fryer told to CNN that the tsunami clearly to
going to be any damage to coastline of North America. A tsunami warning issued
to Hawaii by The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center that strong current may become
a hazard to swimmers and boaters.
